The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is exploring the potential of satellite-based information provided by Rheticus Agriculture service to support the Indonesian Government in flood risks management, and for the sustainable growth of agriculture and aquaculture sectors.

The project “water and food security planning” led by Terradue, the Earth Science consultancy company, aims to ensure sustainable development, better understand land utilization aspects, and get information that can play an essential role in the formation of policies and programmes required for food and water development planning.

By using Rheticus Agriculture, Indonesian Authorities can provide to its citizens in the agriculture sector practical support in making decisions. Thanks to Rheticus Agriculture’s analytical information farmers will take more informed decisions to optimize the management of their production while reducing costs. The service, indeed, is leading to richer harvests and thus higher revenues and the more efficient and environmentally friendly use of resources.

Rheticus Agriculture offers a synoptic point-of-view of the territory by providing constantly updated information about land use, vegetation index, level of humidity. By using this service, farmers can geolocate the field, define the health of the vegetation and the moisture content of the soil, keep track of what is happening in the field and evaluate changes compared to data from previous years.

According to our customers, the Rheticus Agriculture service allows agricultural land to be monitored remotely and efficiently, optimizing field interventions and making a structured crop scouting activity economically sustainable.
